Closing a Chapter: Saying Goodbye to Our Yoga Home

As we move through the final days of this year, I find myself feeling a little sentimental, not only because another year is coming to an end, but because we are also closing a chapter of Alysa Yoga in this beautiful space.

The name Alysa Yoga comes from my second name, and it means Joy. The message “practice with joy” has quietly guided me throughout my yoga journey, and it has been the heart of everything created within these walls.

What mattered most to me about this space was never perfection. It was that everyone could arrive exactly as they were, in their authentic energy. At the same time, it allowed me to show up honestly, to teach from my heart, and to grow alongside you. This studio was never polished, never flawless, but it held space for real life: emotions, challenges, laughter, tears, and transformation.

Interestingly, this studio came into existence almost “by accident.” In 2021, I was simply looking for a space to rent a few evenings a week. When I stumbled upon this location, something inside me whispered, “It’s time to dream bigger.” And so, Alysa Yoga was born.

Through Corona regulations, lockdowns, some injuries, and even a few different hair colours along the way, this place slowly became more than a yoga studio.

It became a living room, a gathering space for students, teachers, and facilitators. A place where friendships were formed, connections deepened, and life unfolded in its own beautiful, unpredictable way.

Because of this space, I met so many incredible souls and learned to trust the flow of life more deeply. And for those who don’t know, this is even where I met Benji for the very first time. Can you imagine how much love this building has witnessed and carried into our community?

Recently, changes within the school building invited me into reflection. Could we continue here? And if so, how? After listening carefully, it became clear that it is time to let go of this space and make room for something new. While this was not a light decision, it feels aligned and heartfelt.

This is not a goodbye to yoga, nor to the community. I will remain in Maastricht and hope to continue teaching, starting with the intention of keeping the Monday class alive in a new location in the new year. I’ll share more details as they unfold.

For now, I want to say thank you. Thank you for practicing here, for sharing energy, for trusting me, and for helping make Alysa Yoga what it became. This space was never just walls, it was the people who filled it with presence and joy.

As one door closes, another opens. And while I say goodbye to this physical space, I do so with immense gratitude and excitement for what is yet to come.

Last Monday class in this space 29th December 19:00 and good bye gathering Saturday 27th afternoon.

With love,

Saara Alysa
